The Briggs & Stratton Model #030440
In June 2008 I purchased a Briggs & Stratton Portable Generator, model#030440, to power my home after the floods in Cedar Rapid, IA. My main reasons for choosing this one was it had rated power output (watts) I needed, I knew the Briggs & Stratton name and there were five people waiting to buy it if I didn't take it!
Once I got it home it was easy to setup and started with the first pull. I connected three pumps and two appliances to the five outlets with no problems, no brownouts or power surges. It ran over nine hours on a tank of gas, so I was able to fill it and then sleep all night. I was using this generator to power the pumps that were keeping my basement free of water so it ran over 21 hours a days for more than 10 days with zero problems.
It was easy to move around with solid rubber wheels and full frame the handles are attached to. I didn't consider it to be overly loud, in fact I thought it was quietest one in the neighborhood and there were numerous ones in use.
I would, and have, recommend this generator to anyone in need of a portable generator for extended use around the home or shop. I paid $749.95 for mine, new from Walmart, and in two year my only out of pocket expense was $25 for tuneup last spring.
