Generac Portable Generators

Generac Portable Generator

Generac portable generators have been manufactured by Robert Kern's Generac Generator since 1959.

Since the very first day of operation Generac was determined to become a leader in electric power generation.

It has been dedicated and consistent efforts in inventing newer techniques that has garnered Generac a name in power generation.

Generac developed the silicon diode technology for generators among other things. Generac portable generators are ideal for homes, offices, construction sites and tailgate parties.

They are available in models that can supply as much as 17,500 watts of electric power over extended periods of time. Models start at 1800 watts.

Generac Portable Generator Models

Generac portable generators are categorized into four series namely the GP, XG, XP, and the IX series.

These have sub categories and the total number of Generac portable generator models is about 20.

Each series is designed for a specific purpose and the models in each series are designed to adapt to even more clearly defines requirements.

The GP Series

The GP series contain generators that are small and very portable.

They can be carried around or pulled or pushed like a wheelbarrow. The generators in this series are just right for camping trips, tailgating, or for use with power tools.

There are nine models to choose from namely; the 1800 watt, 3250 watt, 5000 watt, 5500 watt, 6500 watt, two models in the 7000 and 8000 watt range (one with a pull start and one with an electric start), 15000 and 17500 (both electric start models).

The XG Series

The XG series contain slightly larger generator for use at industrial sites or construction sites. These generators start from 4000 watts and are more hardy than a lot of generators in its category.

There are five models available in this series namely the 4000 watt, 6500 watt, 7000 watt, 8000 watt and the 10000 watt.

The XP series is meant especially for workers. This is a generator used mainly at construction sites and by contractors. There are three models in this series the 4000 watt (manual start ) and the 6500 and 8000 watt models both have electric start mechanisms.

The IX Series

Generac Portable Generators

The IX series is a range of portable generators that can be used in homes where electronic appliances such as personal computers, plasma or TFT television sets and microwave ovens are used.

While the other series produce raw square wave power the IX series passes this raw power through complex electronic circuitry controlled by microprocessors.

It is then into pure sinusoidal waveforms.

This current is further stabilized to dampen out all power surges necessary to protect sensitive electronic circuitry.

The IX series are super quiet generators. They have additional operation modes that allow for fuel conservation such as high mode operation when additional power is needed to charge standby batteries or extra load. This mode uses maximum fuel.

The eco mode allows for even more silent running while it saves fuel too. This series has three models to offer; 800 watts, 1600 watts and 2000 watts. These are manual start generators.

There is a model for about every need. A visit to the dealer will be able to help you determine just how powerful a generator you need. To get an idea refer to the article "Best Portable Generator" on this site.
